2026 50c Silver Proof Coin - Unity available at popandharv.com.au

Australia’s numismatic landscape welcomes a deeply symbolic piece of history with the release of the 2026 50c Silver Proof Coin – Unity. Struck by the Royal Australian Mint, this legal tender release honours two monumental milestones in our nation’s journey towards land rights and reconciliation: the 60th anniversary of the Wave Hill Walk-Off (1966) and the 50th anniversary of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (1976).

A Design Grounded in Courage and Leadership

Designed in collaboration with the Gurindji people, the reverse artfully captures the spirit of collective action. The intricate imagery features the historic handover of soil—immortalising Prime Minister Gough Whitlam pouring earth into the hands of Gurindji leader Vincent Lingiari.

Across the background, the word "UNITY" is embedded within the overlapping shadows of the Gurindji community, acknowledging the bravery of those who walked off Wave Hill station to demand justice, equal wages, and rights to their ancestral land. The obverse displays the official effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, designed by Daniel Thorne.
